Shabbat Helper

Each week, one of the students in Seth's class is the Shabbat Helper. Once they had all done it once, and the school year was well under way, when a student is the Shabbat Helper their family is invited to class for the event. Seth was lucky enough to have Mommy, Daddy, Justin and Nana all in attendance today. We missed Grandma and Pa - maybe next one?

We all got there at 10:15 a.m. for the event. It started with circle time, where Bat-Sheva (one of Seth's teachers, on the left) led the class in some Shabbat songs. Seth's favorite is "Bim Bam" which they are singing in the picture.

After some singing songs and giving tzedekah (charity) the Shabbat Helper takes the torah out of the "ark" and carries it around to the class to kiss while we all were singing. It was so cute watching Seth carefully carry the torah and all the kids reaching out to kiss it!

We then all sit down at the table, where we said the prayers for the candles, juice, and challah.

Then it is time to eat!
Seth did a fantastic job as the Shabbat Helper! It was really wonderful to see him in the class setting. It was really a special day!
