Birthday Party - Part II ~ the cake ~

We thought the cake deserved its own post. A little background first. Seth's favorite song is "Old MacDonald" so we thought a farm themed cake was appropriate. We got the cake from this amazing bakery in Brookline, Party Favors. And look how wonderful it came out!

The whole group sang "Happy Birthday" and Seth smiled, totally enjoying all the attention. He even helped us blow out the candle.
We fed him is first piece of cake and then let him at it.

Of course he loved every bite!

Birthday Party - Part I

We had a "small" family party to celebrate Seth's 1st Birthday party. It was so amazing to have most of Seth's immediate family and some close friends all in one place to eat, laugh and celebrate our little guy.

We were a bit worried how Seth would handle all the people, pictures, and noise but Seth ended up having a blast. He smiled, laughed, ate and mingled with everyone.

Thank you to everyone who came from near and far to celebrate Seth. It was truly special to have so many of the people Seth loves the most in one room. We love you all!
Here we have Nana, Grandma and Grandpa
Uncle Josh (aka Uncle Beard), Aunt Sara, and Uncle Jono
Great Gram and Great-Grandaddy
Aunt Naomi and Uncle Jason

Birthday Weekend

The celebration of Seth's first birthday continued on through the weekend. We woke up this morning and found some balloons outside our apartment door from a friend in the building. Why didn't we think of getting Mylar balloons sooner? Seth was so entertained by the balloon all day we could barely get him to play with any of his new toys. He spent most of the day either holding the balloon, pointing to the balloon and even saying "balloon."

Seth's Grandma and Grandpa (Lauren's Parents) and then Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa (Lauren's Grandparents) came to Boston for the big celebrations. We had a fun afternoon playing, opening presents and going out to dinner.

Year in Review

From Lauren:

I really cannot believe how fast this year has gone by. This year has just been incredible. It has been so amazing watching Seth grow for such a tiny little baby to this little boy. Seth is such a source of joy in my life. I really feel blessed to be his Mom and I am thankful for every day that I get to spend with him. Seth has made me appreciate my family even more than before. It has been such a gift to be surrounded by so much love and support from family and friends over this past year. THANK YOU!

From Jerald:

In looking at Seth today, it's almost hard to remember back to those first few months when he would just lay peacefully in our arms (and never his crib). It has been remarkable, awe-inspiring, and a lot of fun watching him learn, grow, and develop his own unique personality. I'm looking forward to seeing how this adventure continues to play, and thank you all for being a part of it.

Birthday Party in Class

Today was our first "Sprouts" class and we brought cupcakes to celebrate Seth's birthday with.

They got a little injured in transit but the kids loved them (pineapple angel food cupcakes with vanilla frosting!)

Seth had a lot of fun getting to know our new teacher and playing with some new and old friends.

The kids are so big now, during the second half of class we have an activity where the kids sit at this table and play. Today they played with play dough in plastic bags (so they wouldn't eat it). And then we ended with one of Seth's favorite ~ bubbles.

12 Months Old!!!

The day has finally come... Seth is one year old! And with this momentous occasion we reach the end of our "orange sign" pictures (Seth pretty much destroyed it this morning). Right now we will focus on this past month. This past month Seth discovered the joys of matzah and family seders. Seth started doing a "real" crawl and has almost completely given up his "army" crawl. This has led to Seth being able to pull himself up to standing on everything from the couch, the dishwasher and even a wall or door! Seth also started dancing a lot this month - whenever a song comes on the radio or a toy plays music Seth starts to dance. We have to wait until next week to see how much Seth weighs now. All we can tell you is that it is a lot!

Back to the Park

We had another beautiful day in Boston. Seth was lucky to have his Nana and his Great-Gram over to play with and shower him in birthday presents! We went back to the park to play on the slide, in the sandbox and with other fun random toys. Seth had so much fun spending time with his Nana and Great-Gram.

Doesn't Seth look like he is driving the boat?!?

Back at home, Seth's Great-Gram read him a new book she just gave him for his birthday. Seth loved it!

Sandbox

The weather was so amazing in Boston today Seth and his Mom had to get outside to enjoy it. We walked to a park close to our apartment. Seth enjoyed the swing and loved watching the "big" kids play. Seth had his first adventure in the sandbox. He liked to run his fingers in the sand but didn't really enjoy the taste of the sand. We might have to hold off on the sandbox until Seth stops eating everything he touches.

Sarah & Judd's Wedding

Sarah and Judd's wedding was wonderful. The ceremony held in the Voodoo Garden of the House of Blues was intimate, personal and really touching.

The party then moved inside the House of Blues. And what a party it was. The band was beyond amazing (The Boogie Men). We danced, ate, drank, danced, ate and drank some more.

New Orleans ~ Day 2

We had another fantastic day in New Orleans. We started out the day with the most incredible Jazz brunch at The Court of Two Sisters. We ate until we were sick - but enjoyed the beautiful courtyard, weather, music and company along the way.

We enjoyed getting to spend some time with Elena - but missed Seth desperately. We checked on him and he was having a grand time with his Grandma and Grandpa.

We spent the rest of the day walking around town eating some more (do you see the theme) and then resting up for the big wedding.
