Curious George Video

Happy Halloween!

For those of you who have spent time with Seth either watching television, listening to music, or reading books, it will come as no surprise that Seth is Curious George for Halloween this year. He just loves that curious monkey! He was so excited to put his costume on. All day he kept asking me, "Is it Halloween yet?"
Our version of Curious George loves his cuddly...

and drinks Juice/Water

This afternoon, Seth and I hit the main street in our town for some early trick-or-treating. All the stores give out candy. Seth loved it!
He even got to ride in a real firetruck!

Finally, Curious George was reunited with..... the Man with the Yellow Hat! I could not stop laughing when I saw Jerald (even though I made the whole costume it was too funny actually on him). Seth was so excited to see Jerald. And how cute are they together?

We also spent some time walking around with our friends Clifford the Big Red Dog (Collin) and a Fireman (Joshua).

After eating some real food (Seth and I had some free ice cream earlier in the day) we went trick-or-treating on our block. It was fun to see some neighbors we know and to meet some new ones.

All in all - it was a very successful and fun Halloween!!!

Lantern Parade

Tonight we went to the annual Lantern Parade around the pond near our house. We have never gone before - but we were so glad we ventured out tonight. There were hundreds of people with homemade lanterns walking around the pond. Tons of kids, dogs, live music and cupcakes!
Our friends Michael, Sarah and their son Sammy were visiting from Memphis and they were more than happy to come along on our adventure. Michael and Sarah also met during our first year of law school. They have been so great at visiting Boston at least once a year - and we are always happy to see them!!!

Smoothies

Seth requested smoothies for breakfast - and Jerald agreed. So, I made my guys berry smoothies. Yummy!

Playdate with Sophia

Sophia and her baby brother Carlo - came over today to play and to check out Seth's "big boy bed." We had a lot of fun - how cute are they together?

Sleeping on the floor?

This morning at 5:00am we heard one of Seth's toys make some noise (a monkey laughing). I thought, maybe he got out of bed or maybe he threw a pillow at the toy. There were no more noises so we fell back asleep. At 6:00am we heard the same monkey sound and then the sound of a seal. We were really confused at this point. There were no more noises so Jerald went back to bed - but I couldn't sleep. We both got ready for our day - and finally at 7:30am we went to wake him up. He was sleeping on the floor with cuddly and his pillow. He couldn't really explain to us why he was on the floor - but he was in a great mood and seemed well rested. Is it possible that he slept on the floor for 2 and 1/2 hours??? At least the rug is comfortable...

First Swim Class

Today Jerald and Seth took their first swim class together. I wasn't able to get any pictures - but I can tell you they both had a fantastic time! I don't think Seth stopped smiling the whole class. The class is an introduction to water - which is a prerequisite for the next swim class. Seth did a great job at kicking his legs, pulling water with his arms, and blowing bubbles in the water!

Visit to the Zoo with Nana

We couldn't believe it was true - but we had never taken Nana to the Zoo before. We decided to enjoy the nice weather and fix the problem. Some of the animals had already been taken away for the winter but we still got to see some of Seth's favorites.... tigers, lion, peacocks, chickens...
It was a beautiful day and we were sooooo happy to share it with Nana!!!

Apple and Pumpkin Picking

We had a fantastic time keeping with our tradition of going Apple and Pumpking picking with our friends Sara, Doug, Noah and Eva. This is our third year!
Once we all met up we jumped on the tractor ride and headed out to the orchard. Seth thought the tractor ride was so funny. He laughed the whole way there!

Here is Seth's friend Noah, his Daddy Doug, their friend from out-of-town Jenny, holding Noah's sister Eva, and the Mom Sara.

We all had fun eating and picking yummy apples in the orchard. I think Seth did much more eating than picking this time.

After another tractor ride we had a very healthy lunch of apple cider donuts and apple crisp a la mode.
Finally, we went pumpkin picking. Seth picked out a nice one that we are going to paint later this week.

Sleepy Head

This morning Seth woke up at 6am. Jerald went downstairs and Seth said that he dropped pillow and cuddly. After Jerald retrieved them he asked if Seth wanted to sleep with him. Seth said that he should "go back and sleep with Mommy." Jerald came back to bed and long after we were both ready for our day - Jerald was almost at work - at 8:05 a.m. I woke him up. He was fast asleep - as you can see from the picture. He then didn't want to get out of bed. He stayed in bed with the lights on, blinds up, and radio on for another 20 minutes. I finally had to grab him out of bed, throw clothes on him and feed him breakfast in the car to make it to school on time. Of course, I ended up leaving my house keys in the house - but that is another story...

Fasting

Fasting for Yom Kippur was not fun for Jerald (Seth is too young to fast and I am too pregnant!) but my guys looked too cute snuggled on the couch together.

Matty Visits

Matty came over on Sunday to watch the Pats and the Red Sox play. Seth thought he was so fun and had him busy reading to him most of the time Seth was awake. The next day - Seth kept asking where Matty was and when he would be coming back!

Big Boy Bed!!!

So we bought the bed in June - thinking Seth would move into the "playroom" and the "big boy bed" in July. We did a bunch of wonderful traveling this summer and decided it would just be too much - so we stuck with the crib. Then the beginning of school came, and we decided to focus on one new change at a time - so we stuck with the crib. Now we are coming up on fritter's arrival and we didn't want the two linked at all - so it was now or never. With Jerald's hard work and some creative thinking we got the gate working (in the picture it is in the down position, when he is sleeping it clicks up to prevent him from falling out of the bed). So last night we all took the plunge together.

I was very emotional about the whole thing. This, more than anything else, really hit home with me that Seth is no longer a baby. He is in a regular bed! That just blows my mind!!! Jerald did such a great job at hyping the bed thing and preparing him. He went down without a peep. He wouldn't sleep under the covers, just the blanket I knit for him. The whole night wasn't as smooth. At 1:30 am he was calling for me. He was kind of half asleep and couldn't find cuddly. I gave it to him, sang him "Hush Little Baby," and he was back sleeping. I had a much harder time - but that is my own fault. Seth then woke up for good at 5:45 - at least an hour early! I guess for the first night it can be called a success - but we were all pretty tired today.

We then entered into the nap phase of the move this afternoon. It was quite a struggle, since Seth figured out how to get out of bed even with the gate up. After a half an hour of Jerald and I going in and out of his room - putting him back in bed with all his stuffed animals - he finally slept for 2 hours! Not as easy as I would like - but still a success.

What a big boy!!! All in all, I am really proud of him. Moving out of the crib, into a giant bed, in a new room - and he really took it all well.

Rosh Hashanah

We spent Rosh Hashanah at Nana's house and of course we had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and the company was wonderful! Thanks Nana for all your hard work and endless childcare - you made it a wonderful holiday!!! It was great to spend time with Aunt Sara, Uncle Josh, Nana, Uncle Jono, Aunt Naomi, Uncle Jason, and Becca. Seth was so cute with Becca - singing to her and giving her lots of hugs and kisses.
