The latest
Here are the latest pictures of Seth.
Enjoy!
Yesterday we took Seth to our pool for the first time. He was in the water for a couple of minutes when he spit up on Jerald's shoulder and started crying. So no time for a picture. But he really did seem to love lounging by the pool. How cute are his swim trunks???

Today was Seth's Pidyon HaBen. We are sure most of you have not encountered this Jewish life cycle event before. Pidyon Ha'Ben, the "redemption of the first born son," takes place when a baby is at least 31 days old, and involves "buying him back from a Kohen." The biblical basis for this mitzvah (good deed) is very complicated so we will not get into it. But it is only performed when the first born is a son and some other conditions are met. We read that only 1 in 10 Jewish families meet these requirements.
To show love for the mitzvah, the baby is usually brought in on a silver tray decorated with jewelry (see above).
During the very short ceremony: The father attests to the fact that this is indeed his first-born son. The Kohen then asks the father: "Which do you prefer, to give me your first born or to redeem him?" (It is really a rhetorical question, because the Torah requires the father to redeem the son.) So the father pays 5 silver coins to redeem his son.
If none of this makes sense don't worry! Seth has been "redeemed" and we enjoyed some lunch with some family and friends. And got a cute picture of Seth on our silver tray covered in Lauren's jewelry.

After we all recovered from Seth's first bath, last night we decided to give it another try. And guess what? He seemed to like it! Then he had the best night sleep he has had since he was born.

Seth's Grandma (Lauren's Mom) came to visit this week. It was wonderful having her here. We got a little extra sleep and Seth got lots of hugs, kisses and love! (We got those things too!)

Well - the paternity leave is officially over. Jerald is back at work today. We are all trying to adjust with our new situation. Jerald struggling with working on such little sleep and Lauren trying to figure out how to go to the bathroom and eat while being the only one home with Seth... I am sure we will figure it out soon!!!
FYI - more pictures coming later today!

How cute are the boys playing on Seth's Gymini? Seth loves the mirror ~ but he does not yet realize that the cute baby in the mirror is actually himself!

When our little angel sleeps on his daddy's chest (which is his favorite place to sleep) he sleeps just like his mommy. With his hand under his face. How cute is that?

As you can see he enjoyed it immensely! He did enjoy the towel that Meredith bought for him though!

Seth's bris was a beautiful and slightly stressful occasion for his parents. It was so wonderful to have so many family and friends come to celebrate Seth's introduction into the community. Here are some pictures from the bris and some others from days 4-6. If you have any questions as to the bris ceremony feel free to ask!
Thank you to everyone who has called, emailed and sent gifts. As we are slowly figuring out how to handle all of this we will begin getting back in touch with all of you!
